    Hello everyone,

I’ve been reading your profiles and am excited to dig in with each of you.

What can I say about myself? I’m a community economic developer, which means I care a lot about local economies and how they create communities. I especially care about the economy meeting the needs of all people and respecting the constraints of our natural world. My work takes me into interesting corners of the economy. I work with emerging entrepreneurs, existing businesses, economic regions, governments, nonprofits, and with First Nations.

I’ve known Judy for many, many years. We first met when we were both doing work to support entrepreneurs with disabilities. We were a teaching team at Mount Royal University in the Entrepreneurship Program, and we developed this program together.

I live in Calgary, AB with my family. My husband works at the zoo. We have 3 teenagers. One just got accepted into teaching at U of C – a kid after my own heart! And my parents live 5 minutes from us.

Thank you for letting me be a part of your journey.
    Erin.

I would love to play a role in re-invigorating the rural community where I live. Parrsboro, I’m told, has one of the higher percentages of their populations on social assistance. In the summer the town probably triples from the Americans that call this place their home and there’s lots going on; but after Thanksgiving the carpets roll up and the town is nearly dead until they come back again. I have enough on my hands with keeping GeoLearns going and balancing that with family life – so I’m afraid I don’t have anything left in the tank to get involved. I keep it in the back of my mind, hoping that at some point there will be a way to get community business(es) that I can collaborate with.

My apologies for getting into the game a little late – I totally missed the “signing in to the forum discussions”! Better late than never… I guess. Looking forward to this great opportunity to interact with a very diverse cohort and creating synergies.

    Louise,

I suspect that you are an amazing example of innovative and entrepreneurship that will filter into your community. Sometimes the best support we can provide is an example.

    Judy
